How audio works in a school

Schools need audio that is clear, reliable and simple to use. A public address system carries announcements, lesson bells and lockdown or evacuation messages across the whole site, while halls, sports areas and canteens need their own zones for assemblies, events and music. A zoned PA system lets staff reach exactly the right areas.

Classrooms & corridors

Ceiling speakers for clear announcements and lesson-change bells throughout the building.

venue-icon-desktop-mic.png
Main hall

Speakers and microphones for assemblies, performances and parents’ evenings, on their own zone.

gym-icon-floor.png
Sports hall & playground

Robust, weatherproof horn and wall speakers for PE, sports days and playground calls.

rest-icon-dining.png
Canteen

Background music at lunchtime on its own zone and volume.

Bells & scheduled messages

Automatic lesson bells, timetabled chimes and recorded messages.

Reception & office

A paging microphone so the office can reach one zone or the whole school.

Music, licensing and control

Control: a matrix amplifier or mixer lets staff choose the source and volume for each zone, from wall panels or a touchscreen.

Licensing: playing recorded music in public in the UK needs TheMusicLicence from PPL PRS. Personal services like Spotify aren't licensed for business use, so you'll also need a business music service.

Soundtrack Your Business: we can supply Soundtrack, a music streaming service built for businesses, with 125 million+ songs and 2,500+ ready-made playlists, scheduled and controlled from one app.
